This painting, inspired by Luke 4:14, reflects on Jesus' return to Galilee and is deeply influenced by the artist's personal experiences while studying religion and history in the Galilee region in the autumn of 2010. Amberlea studied at the BYU Jerusalem Center, where some of her most sacred memories were formed. This piece is based on a photograph she took, capturing the profound connection between place and spirit.
The ground is rendered in rich hues of gold and amber, symbolizing the sacred nature of the land, while the sky, with its wisps of clouds parting to reveal the heavens, enhances the sense of spiritual awakening. The interplay of light and shadow invites viewers to reflect on Christ’s divine mission and the transformative power of the Spirit, echoing the scripture’s message of Jesus returning "in the power of the Spirit into Galilee."
